FOMO - "FEAR OF MISSING OUT"

Luke 16:19-31 - in a story that depicts ETERNAL LOSS AND ETERNAL GLORY.

From the title itself you might have guessed what it defines. Fear of missing out is a universal experience in the human condition. Missing the bus, missing a promotion, missing a date with friends etc - we have all experienced missing out. Looking into the current trends most of us are addicted to either phones or social media. We want to know, we want to see, we want to Tweet or to be followed, We want to in all the conversations, we want the attention, we want to hear the beeps and pings, we keep on updating status or postings to make sure we aren't missing out. It's not just remained with the technology, it happens in our friends circle as well wherein we try to be on top of the score board.

It was not started in this generation, it is there since the beginning when a serpent softly spoke of a one-time opportunity to Eve and it worked out. Eat from the forbidden tree, Eve and you will be like God" Genesis (3:5). Who wants to miss this opportunity of becoming like God or Goddesses? Same happened with them too, their pride to become like God  or preserve their own independence, keeping all the Glory to themselves destroyed the God-man relationship. It was Satan's tactic and it worked. And it still does.

Jesus shares the story of a rich man who was socially and financially not missing out and a Lazarus who was missed out in all possible way. They both died and the former rich man turned to be a beggar and pleads for a drop of water, also pleads to resurrect lazarus and sent him to his 5 brothers to tell them the eternal life so that they should not end up here.

In other words we must have FOMO: the fear of unbelief and missing out eternally. For those in Christ ETERNITY will make up for EVERY loss or anything that you have suffered in this life, words of God says so. Paul knows this blessed truth, Philippians 3:8 says What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.
