Ambassadors for Christ

2 Corinthians 5:20
“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God”.

An American ambassador who lives in India lives according to the American standards. Within the American embassy where he resides, he has to follow the American rules and regulations. So he is in fact carrying a portion of America with him. Also, the American government before sending him equips him with everything that is required for him to function in India. An ambassador lives according to the standards of the country he belongs to and not according to the standards that he presently is because he is always representing his country.

According to 2 Corinthians 5:20, we are the ambassadors of heaven representing Christ. Even though we live on Earth we are representing God’s kingdom. We were appointed before the foundations of the earth (Ephesians 1:4) and Heaven has already equipped us through the cross with all that is required for us to represent Christ (Ephesians 1:3). Let me ask you a question. If the only reason Heaven is Heaven, because it is God’s residence, then what makes us think that we cannot have a taste of heaven here on earth?  His Spirit lives in us and we are already seated in the Heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 2:6). The kingdom of God is within us (Luke 17:21) and He rules the world through us. We carry heaven with us.

Heaven is peaceful and joyful. But most of us are stuck in this rat race of survival and are constantly worried about our present circumstances. Isn’t life more than food or clothing? (Luke 12:23)

I have a set of questions. Why do we study? To get a good job. Why do we work hard? To earn money. What does money get? Quality life. Really? We do all this to have a quality life. Jesus in John 10:10 says "I came to give you life and life abundant". We have received this quality life in Jesus which money cannot buy. Let us look beyond our worries of food and clothing. I know that our experiences don't seem to agree with this truth. But my friends this is the truth. Be conscious of who we are. We have already been blessed. The Spirit of God lives in us. We are the ambassadors for Christ to fulfill our God given purpose.
