What must I do?

John 6:28 - Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

After hearing every sermon I used to ask myself, “What should I do to implement this in my life?”. We are all seeking for practical solutions like the rich young ruler who asked Jesus what he should do to inherit eternal life (Matthew 19:16) or the Samaritan woman who asks Jesus for the living water (John 4). If climbing Mount Everest guaranteed salvation so many of us would have tried in spite of it being dangerous. Lets face it, at the end of the day we want to know what we can do to change our lives. No wonder books like ‘7 tips to successful marriage’ or ‘5 tips to being successful’ are the best selling books.  And in the quest for these practical solutions we end up depending on our own or someone else’s experiences which may or may not be right.

John 6:29
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

What must I do? Believe in Him.

Is it that simple? Yes.

What do I believe?
Believe in what He has done at the cross because only the cross defines who Christ is. We put our faith in what Jesus has done 2000 years ago at the cross.

We are all struggling through something or the other. Our struggles are never going to go away. And they are real. But we have hope. “Cross is the solution to all our problems.” Cross is not just a one time event and still has the potential to unleash God’s power in our lives (1 Corinthians 1:18). If you like me in your struggles just want to know what you must do. The answer is believe in Him for what He has done. He has completed His work. It is finished.
