Do Not Gossip!

Proverbs 11:13; “A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.”

A young Buddhist monk one day went to his master teacher and said, “I have slandered my neighbor. What can I do?” The monk handed him a bag of feathers and asked him to walk around the area of the temple, and place a feather on every step in the temple courtyard. The young monk did as the master teacher told him, and returned, and said, “I’ve done as you’ve instructed. Now what?” “Now go back and pick them up.” But when he returned to pick them up most of them were not to be found. They were blown away by the wind, to which the master teacher said, “Son, once you begin a gossip, it’s nearly impossible to stop it. It takes a life of its own.” The young monk learnt his lesson.

The bible says, “He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit (1 Peter 3:10).”
