Presence and not wisdom….

I've learned that if you give a pig and a boy everything they want, you'll get a good pig and a bad boy. (age 77)

- From Live and Learn and Pass it On, Jackson Brown, Jr.

Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

David and his son Solomon were both kings of Israel. There is such a contrast in their reigns. They both were kings appointed by God. One was a man after God's own heart and other had all the wisdom in the universe.

Perhaps when David prayed he was more about God and Solomon was about himself. Even though Solomon asked for wisdom it was basically to tackle matters by himself. To be in charge and run the show. Whereas David wanted to be led by God always.
David was about the presence of God and Solomon was about wisdom from God. Wisdom was once for all but presence was forever. Solomon got wisdom and he went his way. In spite of being the wisest man in the universe he displeased God by his actions. David a true worshipper continuously sought the presence of God and would always get back to God whenever he would falter. Let our lives be like King David, who realized that the presence of God is the most important thing for a child of God. Presence and not wisdom.
