"PREACHING WITHOUT PRACTICING!"

Matthew 23:1-4 -Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

The story is told about a preacher who was catching a bus one day to go into the city, as he came on the bus he paid the bus driver Rs 50/-, the rate however only being Rs25/-. The bus driver gave the Pastor Rs35/- change, and the Pastor made his way to his seat. Once seated the minister noticed the Rs10/- error in his favor, for a moment he sat thinking about the situation, finally he got up and approached the bus driver stating that he was given too much change.  The bus driver said, "I knew I gave you too much, I was in your church last week and heard you preach on honesty, and I just wanted to see if you practice what you preach!"

The above said is not only meant for preachers, it is for us too. As we are the Ambassadors for Christ, we represent him and we have to be very careful in what we do as the major impact is on Christ. People around us always have their eyes on us. "Action speaks louder than words." Most of the time we do not have to utter a word to anyone, but by our deeds they come to know Christ. Above all one thing we have to realise that God is watching you and me. Finally, it only matters how Faithful we are to God.
