HE will take you to the Finish Line

Hebrews 12:2

“…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

In the Olympics, one of the events in rowing involves a bunch of guys who row their boats with their backs to the finish line. From the starting point to the end of this event, they are unable to see the finish line. But at the front of the boat seated is “the coxswain,” the leader who gives them the path they need to follow.  The guys who are rowing the boat fixes their eyes on the coxswain, and strictly follows his instructions. It is true that they cannot see where they are going. However, the coxswain gives a cadence and keeps them on track.

Christians, the writer of Hebrews unswervingly states, “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus…. (Hebrews 3:1)”; and motivates us to fix our eyes on the One who has gone on victorious before us. He is the one who gives us the direction in our daily walk. That is why Paul admonishes his readers to have confidence in this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). In other words, the One who got you into the race, will take you to the finish line.
