The final and ultimate revelation

Acts 10: 23b

The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the believers from Joppa went along.

Once in a while we hear of friends or family coming with a vision or a strange experience. I am always excited of the fact that God speaks in various ways. But we need to be discerning in our nature to hear what God says and not yield to the flesh.

When Peter stood up to go to Cornelius’ house he was of course yielding to the vision he had. But it was part of a larger picture. The Great commission had always told the disciples to reach out to nations, but they were always unwilling. So the Spirit of God led Peter to gentiles with a vision. This experience was in line with the Word of God.

When you and I get to deal with such stuff in our daily Christian lives, we need to align it with the Word of God. Because when God works, HE works within the framework of HIS Word which is the final and the ultimate revelation.
