Be Joyful in Trials Because They are Intended for Our Growth

James 1:2—4; “2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
When a surgeon makes an incision, we bleed. Same is the case, when a thief makes the incision. Is there a difference between a doctor’s knife and a thief’s knife, since both do the same thing? In both cases, we hurt and we bleed. Is the doctor and the thief the same? Definitely not! Even though they do the same thing, their intent is entirely different. The doctor’s intent in cutting us is to fix a problem, and take us out of the looming danger it could pose, thus make us strong. However, the thief’s intent is entirely the opposite. His intent is to cause harm, and make us weak.
Satan’s intent is to disable, and destroy us. However, God’s intent, even if He has to cut us and let us bleed, is always to set us free. So let us be thankful to God when we’re cut or broken, because it is designed to make us whole.
