Salvation: A Relationship

Mark 6:14 -

"And when they had come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,"

The Word "KNOW" can mean many things from as "to perceive with the senses" or to a deeper meaning of "Intimacy." In Hebrew it has different meanings like sharing love, showing mercy etc,.

This knowing is not intellectual, but a personal, intimate relationship with God. Jesus defines Eternity in John 17:3(KJV) as "this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." Eternal life is having an intimate relationship with the Father and the son. This intimacy with God is Salvation all about. Forgiveness of sin is not just the point of Salvation. Of course, Jesus did die to purchase forgiveness for our sins because not forgiving sins is a barrier to have intimacy with God. Sin was an obstacle that stood between God and us. Now, everyone just defines salvation as the forgiveness of sin, however, they miss out the eternal life.

Jesus died for us out of love (John3:16) - that a man must have the same communion with God which was there at the beginning. Most of the believers are so scared of "Hell" and that is why they are in Christ. But they miss out the Eternal future. We need to let everyone know that the Salvation is not just for the forgiveness of sins but there's something bigger than that and i.e. "Eternal life - to know GOD the Father and JESUS the Son."
