IT IS WRITTEN

Luke 4:4 - But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written ….. ”

The response of Jesus to every temptation began with the phrase ‘it is written’. Each time He was tempted, He was quoting the Word of God. Jesus was standing on the authority of God’s Word. He simply stood firm on God’s word.

Psalms 138:2 - I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

The psalmist says that God has magnified His word above His name. In essence what it means is that when God’s name is higher than any other name, so when He places His Word above His name that means that his Word is the highest authority. And God will never falter from His Word. He is giving us a security by magnifying His Word and helping us to put our trust in Him. God takes His Word very seriously. When we respond to devil’s temptations with the Word of God, we are resisting him by standing on the highest authority. There is no way he can get us. Also Paul mentions in Ephesians 6:17 that the Word of God is the sword of the Spirit and is the only offensive weapon in the armour of God. So my friends do not forget to take your stand on the highest authority and fight the devil with the sword of the Spirit. Be offensive for it is written that the gates of hell shall not prevail against His church.
