Jesus sympathizes with our weaknesses

Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

High priest in the Jewish community was someone who represented the whole Jewish community to God. The Jews could only reach God through their High Priest. He was someone who stood in the gap and interceded for them. And if God was satisfied with the High Priest then He would bless the people of Israel. So who the High Priest was made a major difference in the lives of the Jews.

As Christians, the people of the new covenant we have Jesus as our High Priest who is in heaven and is constantly interceding for us. Sometimes we have this mindset that Jesus cannot understand our struggles, which is not true. As the author of Hebrews says in 4:15 that Jesus sympathizes with our weaknesses because He too was tempted in all points as we are. And we can see in Luke 4 that Jesus was tempted throughout in his 40 days of fasting. The only difference was that He remained victorious. And we can claim our victory over our struggles through Jesus. Therefore lets not hold back and let us go to Him in confidence (Hebrews 4:16).
